- What is UAE Embassy Attestation?
UAE Embassy Attestation is a process of Legalizing of documents so that they can be used in the UAE legally for employment, study or for commercial purposes. Depending on the situation and need, many different types of documents can be attested. Before UAE Embassy Attestation can be done on a document, there are 3 stages of attestation that need to be done. These three stages of attestation are done from Indian authorities. Attestation from MEA is the second last step before the document proceeds to the UAE Embassy for the Embassy Attestation.
- Why is UAE Embassy Attestation necessary?
Simply explained, you can only use your documents (Personal, Educational or Commercial) in UAE only after they have been attested by the UAE Embassy. This is a condition set by the UAE Embassy due to which your relevant documents will need to be attested before they can be used in the UAE. You will receive your Employment visa or Student visa only after your documents have been duly attested by the UAE Embassy.
What are the steps to get UAE Embassy Attestation done?
- Local Level
The first step is the Notary which is done at the Local or Regional Level. In case of a Commercial Document, the first step is to get the Chamber of Commerce attestation.
- State Level
This is the next step of the Attestation process. The three authorities who attest the document at this level are the Home Department, Human Resources Department, the Sub Divisional Magistrate. Depending on the type of document, the state from which it is issued & the final Embassy Attestation which needs to be done, you might need to get attestation done from any one of the three above-mentioned authorities. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate Attestation is on the same level as the Home Department Attestation.
- MEA Level
The next step in the Attestation process is the MEA Attestation which is done by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
- UAE Embassy Attestation
The final step with in India is the Embassy Attestation. After this step is done, your document can be used in the country that you are emigrating to. Embassy Attestation is done by the authorized personnel present at the Embassy.

Procedure for UAE Attestation :-
For Educational Documents
Process 1:
- Attestation by the State Education Department (HRD only) of respective state
- Attestation from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)
- Attestation from Uae Embassy/Consulate.
Process 2 (Case Specific):
- Attestation from the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), New Delhi
- Attestation from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)
- Attestation from Uae Embassy.
For Non-Educational Documents
Process 1:
- Attestation by the State Home Department of respective state;
- Attestation from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA);
- Attestation from Uae Embassy/Consulate.
Process 2 (Case Specific) :
- Attestation by Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), New Delhi
- Attestation from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)
- Attestation from Uae Embassy.
Process 3 (Case Specific) :
- Attestation from the Home Department of Maharashtra State;
- Attestation from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA);
- Attestation from Uae Embassy/Consulate.
For Commercial Documents
- Attestation by Chamber of Commerce;
- Attestation from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA);
- Attestation from Uae Embassy/Consulate.
Following documents are required for Attestation of educational and personal documents:
- Original documents to be attested;
- One clear photocopy of the passport;
In the case of Commercial Document Attestation, following documents are required to be submitted:
- Original documents duly attested by the respective Chamber of Commerce under the name and designation seal of the Attesting Officer and the seal of the Chamber of Commerce;
- Embassy’s fees per document as determined by them after checking the documents
